Nayanthara says that Shooting for BEB was fun

nayanta022

In a beautifully decorated black and white set, erected near the city airport, Nayanthara and Arya were busy dancing and analysing the importance of Kumabakonam vethalai for Rajesh’s Boss Engira Baskaran (BEB) when we caught up with them.

“This is the last day of the schedule. And after this song, the shooting for BEB is officially over,” smiles Nayanthara. “I’m feeling quite relaxed now. We had super fun shooting for BEB. The movie, like Rajesh’s previous hit, Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS), is quite hilarious. There was not a single moment when we were stressed out,” she says.

Talking about the film, she says, “BEB is the story of a middle-class family that faces common issues. I play Chandrika, a middle class, sensible girl. She expects everyone to be practical in life.”Nayanthara is all praise for her co-star and director. “Arya was so much fun to work with. He is always playful and never ever serious on the sets,” she discloses.

Rajesh, she says, is a sensible director. “Though he’s new to the industry, he knows exactly what the audience wants. Even if he falters with the ‘want’ factor, he’s sure what the audiences wouldn’t want to see on screen. He hasn’t committed any mistakes that other newcomers would. He brings out the best in his actors. At a time when people were getting bored with the routine mass masala movies, he came out with SMS, which kept the audience entertained,” she says.

There have been reports that Nayanthara had decided to concentrate only on off-beat movies and had said no to glamour. Ask her if these reports are true and she nonchalantly says, “As an actress, I’ve to be versatile. If I think a character would suit me, I would definitely go ahead and grab the offer without any hesitation. I have done girl-next-door roles like that in Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Chandramukhi and glamorous roles like the one in Aegan. And I think I’m lucky to have been able to portray both with efficiency. I’m not bothered about having an ‘image’ in the film industry. I believe that whatever role I take up, I have to do it convincingly. I’m not the one to judge my success. The audience will do it for me.”

So, what after BEB? “I’m doing Electra in Malayalam. I’m also in talks with director Prasad for Mathilukalkkappuram. Resul Pookutty and Ravi K Chandran too are part of the technical team of this film, which will have sync sound,” she signs off.

Arya is so much fun to work with-Nayanthara

boss-en

When we met Nayanthara recently, she was busy dodging Arya’s advances and giving him the slip. Now, now, before you let your imagination run wild, all the action was happening for the camera on the sets of Boss Engira Baskaran (BEB), directed by Rajesh M of Siva Manasula Sakthi fame.

“We’re shooting a song that features during a marriage. It’s so much fun doing a light-hearted flick,” begins Nayanthara, “I haven’t worked with Arya before and when I got an offer from Rajesh, I accepted it immediately. He is a sensible director and managed to gauge the pulse of the audience in his very first film. BEB is a complete entertainer. There are no messages to be delivered and promises to be kept.”

So, what is the movie all about? “It gives one a peek into a middle-class family. It’s a movie about Baskaran (Arya) who takes life as it comes. He doesn’t believe in working and I change his life completely!” she says and adds, “I play Chandrika, a sensible middle-class girl, who expects everyone to be practical.” Tell her the sketch reminds one of her character Keerthi in Yaaradi Nee Mohini and she shoots back, “Keerthi was nice and sweet, but she was complicated. She had some issues in life, but Chandrika doesn’t.”

This pretty actress also can’t stop raving about her co-star, Arya. “He is so much fun to work with. He always has a smile on his face and it’s impossible to get angry with him. We have a good chemistry and got along like a house on fire,” she says enthusiastically.

Ask Nayanthara, who has worked with many established actors, if she regrets having missed out on any offers and she replies philosophically, “It’s true I have missed out on a few projects that later went on to become hits but then, there are no regrets. I believe that what belongs to you will come to you.”

Though Nayanthara has only BEB in Tamil currently, she has her hands full with projects in three other south Indian languages. “I’ve Simha with Balakrishna, directed by Boyapati Srinu, in Telugu. I also have Electra with director Shyam Prasad in Malayalam. It’s an interesting script and I’m looking forward to shooting for it. If all goes well, I might also dub for myself in this movie. And in Kannada, I have a yet-to-be-titled film with Upendra,” she concludes.

I need to concentrate on performance-oriented characters-Nayanthara

Aadhava

Super! That’s the response Real Star Upendra’s latest script elicited from Nayanthara. The hottie was in town last week for her first photo session with Uppi. Fans tripped over each other to get up close and personal with the two stars despite the location being closely guarded.

Ask the actress what made her agree to this film, and she says, “I think Upendra being a huge star and Rockline (Venkatesh) being a famous producer. I was sent a one-line synopsis by mail, which got me hooked.”

Recent talks suggest that the girl, who’s known for her glam quotient, wants to turn down the heat in her future films. Which is partly the reason she refused another Kannada film sometime ago. “Yes, I want to sober down. I feel this is the time in my career when I need to concentrate on performance-oriented characters. Of course, there’s nothing wrong in looking good on screen, but I also want to exhibit my acting potential. In this film, I play a Brahmin girl and have a lot of scope to showcase my acting prowess. Henceforth, my films will have a mix of both - acting and glamour,” she states.

She’s proved that she’s serious about her stance by signing an offbeat film on home turf - Kerala. “It’s by Shyam Prasad, who’s a National Award-winning director. Watch out for a different Nayanthara in that one,” promises the actress.

She’s also soaking up the success of Aadhavan, Adhurs and Bodyguard, which points to her hitmaker status in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. But is it easy to stay on top always? Does she ever feel the competition? “Yes, competition does get to any actor. But people forgive your flops when you deliver a hit the next time. Also, once you’re an established actor, it doesn’t affect you much. Every one has his/her own place,” she explains. Among the younger lot, does she see anybody who has the ‘It’ factor? “There are many beautiful girls coming in. But I don’t see that spark in them. They need to work harder to make it big,” observes Nayan.

Being on top also means constant speculation. The one rumour that refuses to die down is that she will call it quits to get marrried. “In such situations, I do what I’m best at - stay calm. I don’t speak or clarify anything. If I do, they’ll publicise it even more. As for quitting, I’m not. But yes, like any other normal girl who dreams and should dream, I too want to settle down and have a family,” says Nayan.

Nayantara not getting good characters to play in kollywood

Nayanth01

A wise person has said that one who does not know how to dance blames the stage. Nayantara has said that the reason why she is not doing Tamil or Malayalam films is because she’s not getting good characters to play.

Nayantara was one among a dozen, doing sister and friend roles till she was discovered and made a heroine in Tamil films. Her debut Tamil film ’Iyya’ proved to provide her a good entry. She became heroine to Rajini and became south India’s number one heroine.

She broke up with Simbu after ’Vallavan’ and also got huge amounts from Andhra for her Telugu film assignments. This made her say that she did not get good roles in Tamil films.

That’s how Trisha also spoke a few months back when she was reigning in Telugu films. Now she is eagerly awaiting Tamil film offers. Soon Nayantara will be in a similar position, then what would she say?

Nayantara earned a good craze both in Telugu and Tamil languages

Nay

It is not known how long stardom would remain as heroines in the film industry. The present generation heroines are following the popular maxim ‘Make the hay while the sun shines’ and cashing in on every opportunity that comes in their way. They are keeping themselves busy in one language or the other.

Nayantara is the best example for this. She earned a good craze both in Telugu and Tamil languages. Though she is playing heroine on one hand, she is also giving green signal for item numbers.

Sometime ago, she did an item number for Sivaji. Again she played in Kuselan. Presently she is playing one among the three heroines in Simha opposite Balakrishna. She is not rigid that she would do only heroine’s roles but she remained flexible for the sake of her friends and well-wishers in the film industry and changing her rules accordingly.

Loss of privacy is the price you pay when you’ve fame-Nayanthara

nayanth01

“Loss of privacy is the price you pay when you’ve fame, ” says actress Nayanthara , who’s irritated with the rumors about her on media channels.

Right from the beginning, the actress has been associated with link-ups with her co-stars. Though, the sensuous actress has never denied any rumors, claiming it to be her personal affair in which the media shouldn’t interfere.

Of course, the actress has no regrets for her affair with Prabhu Deva (married to Ramlath and father of three children). When a fan asked about the tattoo of ‘Prabhu Deva’ on her hand, she snapped back with, “He’s my favorite man…”

As a matter of fact, the actress has lost her fame amongst the fans with this gesture. Buzzes are rife that fans are personally mailing letters to every actor requesting them not to pair up with Nayanthara.

Well, for the people in Tamil Nadu, films are something more than entertainment, as they adore it as a religion.
