Reemma is living it up queen size these days. Yes, her ambitious film Aayirathil Oruvan may be receiving mixed reports from the audiences but she is getting rave reviews for her spirited performance and look in the film.

Happy with her kitty full of praises the actress flew back to Mumbai after a two weeks stay in Chennai for which she did promotion for the film on print and visual media and Internet.

Says Reemma: “ I couldn’t ask for more. I feel that my character of Anitha had a lot of facets and I owe it all to director Selvaraghavan and my cameraman Ramji for it. My effort to look different has paid off. All my friends and well-wishers supported me, including Nayanthara who called up personally to say that I looked stunning in the second half as the Pandya queen”.

So what next? Reemma is back to her work-out and normal routine. She adds: “I am never in a hurry. Talks are on and I will confirm my next film after I sign it”.

The director of Boss Engira Baskaran, Rajesh declared that Silambarasan is not doing a cameo in the film as reported by certain sections of the media.

Top Malayali actress Nayanthara getting back to Malayalam films

Top Malayali actresses who made waves outside their state, are getting back to familiar moorings in Kerala! Successful Malayali girls, like Nayanthara, Meera Jasmine, Mamta Mohandas, Priyamani and Bhavana, who made it to the top in Tamil and Telugu films, are now doing Malayalam films. The big buzz now is that Asin, who has no current projects in Bollywood, has agreed to do a Malayalam film for a director known for his meaningful films. Nayanthara’s first Malayalam film in three years, Bodyguard, with Dileep is releasing next week. Nayan, who is shifting base, has also signed her first film in Sandalwood, a big budget extravaganza, directed by and starring superstar Upendra. In Malayalam, she will be doing director Shyama Prasad’s next film; two other films with Mammootty and Mohanlal are in the pipeline.

Meera Jasmine is making a comeback after three years with Rajiv Anchal’s Pattinte Palazhi in which she plays a leading playback singer. Says director Rajiv Anchal, “When I wrote the story for the film, I had only Meera in mind as only she can do justice to the role.”

Mamta had a brief fling with Tamil and Telugu films, and her Bollywood dreams never materialised. Meanwhile her Passenger in Malayalam, got her critical as well as box-office acclaim. Now she is playing the lead role in director Aneesh’s Nirakazcha, a story about a model who falls in love with an Italian painter. Next week, she will start shooting with Jayaram for an untitled film with director Sathyan Anthikad who’s known for his family sagas.

Bhavana, after a long time is smiling, as her recent release Happy Husbands with Jayaram has been declared a hit. She has slowed down her Tamil and Telugu projects and has only Asal with Ajith in Tamil. Bhavana has also signed two new films in Malayalam. Meanwhile, Priyamani, after a National Award winning performance in Paruthiveeran, tried to take the glamour route in Tamil and Telugu cinema and failed miserably. She is back to Malayalam films with a meaty role in a film opposite her favourite hero, Prithviraj.

Concludes a veteran director, “They may have been paid a bomb to look glamourous on screen in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, but they can now extend their careers for a few more years in Malayalam doing films where they won’t have to wear itsy-bitsy clothes!”

She is confident, assertive and bold. Nayanthara has been keeping a low profile, quietly doing her work and refused to speak to the media. 2010 hs started on a bright note for the actress as her first release of the year Adurs in Telugu is a hit. And her ambitious film, the much talked about film in Malayalam, Bodyguard is releasing on Friday (Jan 22). We pins her down for this conversation on the eve of the release

What is your role in Bodyguard?
I play Ammu, a bubbly college student who is the apple of the eye of her wealthy dad played by Thyagarajan sir. She is good at heart and spreads happiness to people around her. Naughty, vibrant and full of life.

Why did you decide to do a Malayalam film while you were riding a wave in Tamil and Telugu?
It was not intentional. When Dileep chettan called up and told me to hear this script from Siddique sir, I did. And trust me; I haven’t been so carried away like this before. Siddique sir is a good story-teller and I listened to the entire script and instantly agreed to do it caring less for the language, dates or remuneration. Such characters comes once in a blue moon and how could I reject it?

The film carries a lot of positive buzz around it. Please comment?
I saw the film and loved it. It is a very simple straightforward film and please go for it without expecting anything big, and you will love it. What I liked about the film is its presentation and let me tell you that what Siddique sir narrated to me is what I see in the movie. All the scenes, comedy and twists are situational and natural.

How was it working with Siddique?
He is such an adorable guy. So grounded, genuine, calm and straightforward. He is patience personified and always smiling even in times of crisis. There is a lot you learn as an actor after working with him. People like him are rare to find these days and even if he calls me for another film, I will shut my eyes and agree to do it without asking questions.

What about Dileep, your hero?
He and Manju chechi are my extended family. He is a good friend too and we vibe well.

How have the songs shaped up? Has Prabhu Deva has choreographed the songs?
Prabhu is a very close friend of Siddique sir and when we decided to shoot an important song which goes with the story, Siddique sir spoke to Prabhu and he agreed if the dates were planned according to his convenience. That’s how he came down to Kerala and we shot two songs- one in Munnar and the other in Kottayam.

So will you be doing more Malayalam films?
It depends on the script. I have been getting lot of offers and when the right time comes, I will not hesitate. Right now, I have signed an off-beat film with director Shyamaprasad.

You are keeping a low profile these days avoiding the media..Is it a deliberate move?
(Smiles).. There is nothing for me to talk. I am very happy that 2010 has started on a good note after Adhurs is a hit and I am so happy to be a part of Bodyguard. Even when I don’t talk, I am dragged into far too many controversies both personally and professionally. Now I prefer to quietly do my work and let my films do the talking.

Nayantara has walked out of the Mammooty's Movie

The biggest attraction for ’Parundhu’ was the appearance of Nayantara in the lead role. M Padhmakumar is the director of the film and this was the firs time that he was going to work with Malayalam superstar Mammooty.

Initially, it seems Nayantara had agreed to star in the film, but now there are talks that she wouldn’t be able to due to callsheet problems.

Nayantara’s turn to make her debut in Bollywood movies

After actresses Asin and Genelia, now it is actress Nayantara’s turn to make her debut in Bollywood movies. Soon the actress is going to act in a Hindi movie under a big banner, according to the latest buzz rounds in the industry. Rajesh who believes in shooting in realistic locations went to Kumbakonam main bus stand and asked his lead pair to board a local city bus!

It created a stir and they could shoot only for half an hour before the crowd became uncontrollable. They had to shift the location as almost the entire people near the bus stand came to see Nayanthara!

Nayan has shed her glamour image for the film where she plays a middle class girl and wears only salwars and Pavadai-dhawani throughout the film.
